Fibroids is sometimes misdiagnosed as Adenomyosis

It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Adenomyosis , when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Fibroids.

Uterine fibroids are noncancerous masses of uterus cells. Approximately 40-80% of women have fibroids but they do not cause any symptoms unless the masses grow large enough. Those type of symptoms can include heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pressure or pain, frequent urination, or constipation. Fibroids if not removed in one in 350 women, the fibroid may develop into cancerous cells. Most gynaecological issues present with similar symptoms and fibroids may be misdiagnosed as adenomyosis, hematometra, uterine cancers, and pregnancy.

Always consult your doctor or health professional, and do not self diagnose.

Symptoms can include:

Pelvic pain or pressure, frequent urination, heavy menstrual bleeding, long menstrual periods, difficulty emptying bladder, constipation, leg pains or backache

Symptoms are a guideline only and may apply to either the diagnosis or the reported misdiagnosis, or both. Consult your specialist for further information.
