It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Behcet's Disease, when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Chilblains.
Chilblains is inflammation of the small blood vessels in the skin that happens in response to exposure to cold air and can recur seasonally. Symptoms include small itchy red areas on the skin (usually on feet or hands), possible blistering or ulcers, swelling of the skin, burning sensation and changes in skin colour from red to dark blue with pain. Chilblains is often misdiagnosed as Raynaud’s phenomenon.
