Yellow Fever is sometimes misdiagnosed as Malaria

It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Malaria, when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Yellow Fever.

Yellow fever is a viral infection spread through mosquito bites. The mild acute phase causes fever, headache, sensitivity to light, nausea and vomiting, red eyes, face or tongue. The toxic phase can cause yellowing of skin and whites of eyes, decreased urination, bleeding from nose, mouth and eyes, slow heart rate, liver and kidney failure and brain dysfunction. The early phase of the disease can be misdiagnosed as influenza or gastrointestinal disease. Is misdiagnosed yellow fever causes death in 20-50% of those that develop the severe toxic phase of the disease.

Fever, muscle pains, sensitivity to light, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, red eyes, red face, red tongue, headache, loss of appetite
