Tuberculosis (TB) is sometimes misdiagnosed as Mycoplasmal Pneumonia

It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Mycoplasmal Pneumonia, when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Tuberculosis (TB).

Treatment for active tuberculosis is a course of antibiotics taken for six to nine months. The medication can also be advised in case of latent infections. Skin tests and blood tests are the two tests used to diagnose Tuberculosis although blood tests are more accurate.

Always consult your doctor or health professional, and do not self diagnose.

Symptoms can include:

Fever, cough lasting more than 3 week, chest pain, coughing up blood, night sweats, chills, fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss

Symptoms are a guideline only and may apply to either the diagnosis or the reported misdiagnosis, or both. Consult your specialist for further information.
