Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma is sometimes misdiagnosed as Polymyalgia Rheumatica

It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica, when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Non-hodgkin’s lymphoma is a type of cancer that begins in your lymph nodes where white blood cells called lymphocytes grow abnormally and can form tumours throughout the body. Symptoms include swollen lymph nodes in the neck, armpits or groin, abdominal pain or swelling, chest pain, coughing, trouble breathing, persistent fatigue, fever, night sweats, and unexplained weight loss. Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma can be misdiagnosed as endodontic disease if near the mouth, influenza, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, human immunodeficiency virus, and mononucleosis.
