Discoid Eczema is sometimes misdiagnosed as Psoriasis

It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Psoriasis, when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Discoid Eczema.

Discoid eczema causes raised, disc-shaped rashes with a well-defined boarder that are itchy, flaky and may weep and crust over. It is a chronic condition and the rash can last for months to years and is likely to reoccur. It can be misdiagnosed for ringworm, psoriasis, lichen aureus and contact dermatitis.

Always consult your doctor or health professional, and do not self diagnose.

Symptoms can include:

Itchy skin, inflamed skin, scaly or crusty skin , distinct circular raised patches of irritated skin, one or handful of patches

Symptoms are a guideline only and may apply to either the diagnosis or the reported misdiagnosis, or both. Consult your specialist for further information.
