Dystonia is sometimes misdiagnosed as Tics

It has been reported that some patients have been misdiagnosed with Tics, when in fact the correct diagnosis in their specific case was Dystonia.

Treatment for dystonia is a combination of medications as well as physical therapy. Surgery might be required if the symptoms are very severe. Diagnosis is done via a physical check. Other tests are required to rule out other conditions or to determine if underlying conditions are causing the symptoms.

Always consult your doctor or health professional, and do not self diagnose.

Symptoms can include:

Involuntary pulling of the neck, a dragging leg, foot cramping, uncontrollable blinking, speech difficulties

Symptoms are a guideline only and may apply to either the diagnosis or the reported misdiagnosis, or both. Consult your specialist for further information.
